Banker, merchant; born Belvidere, Ill., Nov. 29, 1849; son of Edward and Mary (Carter) Moss; educated in private and public schools; married, Rock Springs, Wyo., March 10, 1880, Celia A. Mellor; five sons. Has been engaged In mercantile business for past forty years, having been head of one of the best and largest of Idaho concerns; was president Idaho Hardware and Implement Dealers' Ass'n: was late president Pacific Federation of Hardware and Implement Dealers' Association, comprising State organizations of Idaho, Oregon, Calif., Washington, and other adjoining states; and has been president of a leading bank in Idaho for more than twenty years; now president of First National Bank of Payette, Moss Mercantile Co., Malheur Irrigation Co., Idaho Townsite Co.; treasurer Payette Valley Railroad Co.; director Midvale Mercantile Co. Has also been president of several of largest irrigation systems of western Idaho. Was Republican nominee for governor, 1898; has been for many years member Executive Board of Republican State Central Committee, and may times mayor of Payette. Republican. Idaho representative in National Red Cross Society; was president Idaho State Bankers' Ass'n; is chairman Board of Directors of Idaho Insane Asylum. Mason, Shriner, Odd Fellow.
