Nellie Applegate Ferguson
Services for Nellie Applegate Ferguson, 88, Payette, were held at the Shaffer-Jensen
chapel at 10 a.m.; Saturday, July 26 (1961). Interment was at the Applegate Kennedy cemetery
in New Plymouth. The Rev. A. E. Rainwater conducted the service. Mrs. Ferguson was
born May 29, 1886 in Payette county. She was the daughter of John and Mary Applegate,
who were pioneers in the Payette area. She attended the Weiser Institute and later
taught school. She was an active member of the Assembly of God church in Payette.
She married Walter Manis in Payette and resided in McCall for many years.
In 1952 she married Omer Ferguson in Payette. He preceded her in death in 1961.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Brown, Ashland, Ore., Mrs. Lena Greene,
Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Evelyn Little, New Plymouth, Mrs. Eleanor Butler, Spokane, Wash.,
Mrs. Lela Phillips, Boise; a son, M. L. Manis, Weiser; and five step-children,
Omer Ferguson, jr., Medford, Ore., John Ferguson, Portland, Gene Ferguson, Banks, Ore.,
Cora Everett, Portland and Opal May, Payette. Two brothers, Sam Applegate, Payette,
Jim Applegate, Emmett and one sister, Delia Pence, Payette and many more relatves and friends.
