DEATH CLAIMS IDAHO PIONEER

Andy Rasmussen Died Following Heart Attack

Andy Rasmussen, one of the earliest settlers in Payette Valley, died Tuesday afternoon, after a short illness, in New Plymouth. Mr. Rasmussen left his home near Falk Monday morning to go to Payette. When enroute to New Plymouth to catch the stage he was stricken with heart failure. He was brought to Dr. Drysdale's office where he was cared for until his death Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Rasmussen came to Idaho in 1870, working in the mines in Boise Basin for a few years. Later he owned and ran cattle in Payette Valley and finally homesteaded the place where Ed Strohbehr now lives. Later he moved to the farm now occupied by his son Louis.

He was 79 years old, a native of Norway, coming to this country when he was twenty years old. Two children survive him, Mrs. Thomas of Emmett and Louis Rasmussen of Falk. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.

Funeral services were held at the home near Falk Thursday afternoon, interment being in the Falk cemetery.
