Downtown Potential
(Page 3)
The potential exists to strengthen downtown Fruitland to attract shoppers and tourists from within and beyond Fruitland and to serve as the focal point for city life. Downtown has a relatively compact center along Main Street and possesses a strong identity through its numerous brick buildings. The downtown loop is easily accessible from U.S. 95 and 1-84. Additional strengths of the downtown include City Hall, the U.S. Post Office, Fruitland Community Park, Old School Community Center, Farmers Mutual Telephone Company, restaurants and nearby schools. An excellent opportunity exists to reinforce the downtown as a viable and appealing shopping, civic, residential and entertainment area that would provide many of the shopping and social needs of the city. It would remain the gathering place for area residents by re-emphasizing personalized service as well as introducing a more specialty-oriented selection.
