NEW PLYMOUTH - Services for Arthur Samuel Barker 76, of New Plymouth, who died Thursday in a Boise hospital, were conducted at 2 p.m. today in the New Plymouth Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel by the Rev. Earl Traughber of the New Plymouth Congregational Church. Interment with military honors will be at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth.

Born May 31, 1896, at Plainfield, Ind., he was reared and schooled there. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War I. Following his discharge from the service he moved to California and married Marcia Hanson July 16, 1921 at Patterson, Calif. They resided there until 1940 when they moved to Fruitland and later to New Plymouth.

He was a member of the Friends Church and served on the board of directors on the Farmers Irrigation Co. in New Plymouth for several years until his retirement last year.

Surviving besides his wife at home are a son, Clayton A. Barker of Fruitland; a brother, Maurice Barker of Plainfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Francis and Clarice Barker, both of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
