FRUITLAND - Marcia S. Barker, 91, Fruitland, died June 27, 1988, at a Payette nursing home. Private family graveside services were at 10 a.m. today at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth. The Rev. Gary Shoemaker of the Community Methodist Church, Huntington, will officiate under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland.

She was born Sept. 5, 1896, at Crookston, Minn., a daughter of Nels and Sophie Hanson. She was raised and educated in Minnesota. As a young woman, she moved to California; attended business school and nurses training there. She married Arthur S. Barker on July 16, 1921, at Modesto, Calif. They lived at Patterson, Calif., where they farmed together and had two sons. In 1938, they moved to Fruitland where they farmed. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Priscilla Rebekah Lodge #97 at New Plymouth.

Survivors include a son, Clayton Barker of Fruitland; a granddaughter, Cherie Bergseng of McCall; three grandsons, Bruce Barker of San Diego, Ross Barker and Jim Barker, both of Fruitland; three great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Donald Gene Barker, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97201; or a favorite charity.
