FRUITLAND Services for S. Jay Conner, 90, a retired farmer who died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1986, at an Ontario hospital, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Fruitland Free Methodist Church, Pastor Matt Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Parkview cemetery, New Plymouth, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Fruitland.
He was born March 30, 1896, in Burwell, Neb., the son of Joseph and Tacy Conner. He was reared and educated in Nebraska, and served in the Army during World War 1. He married Helena Mohr on March 24, 1920 at Burwell. They moved and homesteaded south of Fruitland in 1944, where they began farming. He attended the Free Methodist Chruch in Fruitland.
He is survived by his wife, Helena, Fruitland; seven sons, Stephen Henry Conner, Fruitland; Calvin E. Conner, Parma; Claton William conner, Fruitland; La Vern M. Conner, Royal City, Wash.; Stanley Jay Conner, Fruitland; Joseph Edward Conner, Toledo, Ore.; two daughters, Anna Rickard, Portland; Alta Southwell, Lake Oswego, Ore.; three brothers, Charles Conner and Otis Conner, both Burwell, Neb.; and Joe E. Conner, Caldwell; 22 granchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
