Hazel Pearl Hansen

FRUITLAND - Hazel Pearl Hansen, 87, Fruitland, died Jan. 1, 1997 at a Nampa retirement center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fruitland, with Second Ward Bishop Lamarr Kofoed officiating. Vault interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland.

Hazel was born May 5, 1909 in Lansford, N.D., a daughter of Alonzo E. and Bertha A. Kuhl Hall. She married Clarence E. Hansen, Sept. 9, 1925 at Bottineau, N.D. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple, Oct 3, 1949. They lived and worked in North Dakota and Montana, owning a restaurant in Big Timber, Mont. before moving to Fruitland in 1948. She worked to Fruitland in 1948. She worked at the Merc Department Store in Ontario for 15 years, retiring in 1972. Clarence preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1992. Hazel was a member of the Fruitland School Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hazel loved to read and go out to eat, but her favorite thing was to spend time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Wallace Hansen of Yuma, Ariz.; a brother, Clarence Hall of Nampa; a sister, Stella Trimble of Nampa; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, two sons, a daughter, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel, Fruitland and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Relief Society Room, Fruitland.
