John Hansen

PAYETTE - John Hansen, 66, Payette, died May 14, 1989, at his home on Little Willow Creek near Payette. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. The Rev. Earl Traughber of The Church of the Brethren, Fruitland, will officiate. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth.

He was born, May 16, 1922, at Maxwell, N.M., a son of Peter and Sarah Hansen. His family moved to Colorado, and then to Idaho in 1928. He grew up and attended schools at Emmett, graduating from Emmett High School in 1940. After graduation, he moved to Payette, then served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and returned home to Idaho. He married Elizabeth (Beth) Brumet on June 12, 1953, at Payette. He farmed on Little Willow Creek and was employed by the Lower Payette Ditch Company where he was a very dedicated employee for many years.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Beth of Payette; a son, John Hansen of Fruitland; a daughter, Sara (Mrs. Jerry) Anderson of Albany; a brother, Clifford C. Hansen of Payette; a sister, Alice (Mrs. Peter) Wutherich of Boise; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute or the Idaho Veterans Home in care of Shafer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette 83661.
