Louis E. Kissell, 84, Fruitland, a retired farmer, died Dec. 17, 1987, at a Payette nursing home. Graveside services were held Dec. 19 at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth. The Rev. Earl Traughber, Church of the Brethren, officiated, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Fruitland.
He was born April 23, 1903, at Baker, a son of John and Luella Kissell. He was raised and educated in the Baker area and as a young man he moved to Eagle to farm. He married Mable Montgomery on Feb. 4, 1925, at Boise. They moved to Melba, where he farmed until 1940. They then moved to a homestead south of Fruitland and farmed there until he retired in 1971, and had lived in Fruitland since then. He worked hard on the farm throughout his life and when he could get away he enjoyed traveling and he liked to work in the yard. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, Fruitland, and a member of the Fruitland School Board.
Survivors include a son, Ken Kissell of Fruitland; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Gene) Conner of Parma and Mrs. Charles (Lois) Sanders of Hillsboro; a sister, Myrtle Pearson of Union City, Calif.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife Mabel died Sept. 4, 1985. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
