Richard (Sweed) M. Roberts

Graveside services for Richard (Sweed) M. Roberts, 76, New Plymouth, who died Oct. 6, 1982, in a Payette nursing home, were conducted Saturday, in the Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth with Rev. Earl Traughber of the New Plymouth Congregational Church, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel in New Plymouth.

He was born Dec. 6, 1905, in Apache, Okla., the son of Thomas and Margaret Roberts. He was employed for several years by the Shadwick Transportation Company in Goodman, Mo. He served in the army during World War II in the Pacific, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations Ribbon. He was discharged as a Radio Tech, Sargeant. He married Sarah Simmons in December of 1961. She died in July of 1972. He was employed by the Henggeler Fruit Farms, prior to his death and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by a sister, Murl Dittmer of El Reno, Okla.; six stepdaughters, Ethel Codr and Betty Funk, both of New Plymouth; Barbara Rash of Fruitland; Mildred Troy of Vale; Pearl Derrick of Idanah, Ore.; Dorothy Hilton of Tulelake, Calif.; 21 step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
