NEW PLYMOUTH – Mrs. Lucy Mason Thompson, 86, Spokane, a former New Plymouth resident died Tuesday at Spokane.

She was born Nov. 28, 1885 at Leonardville, Kan. She came to New Plymouth with her family in 1896. She finished grade school there and graduated from high school at Payette in 1905. During her early years in New Plymouth she joined the New Plymouth Congregational Church and was active in the church throughout her life. In recent years she had been affiliated with the West Minister Congregational Church, Spokane.

After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1911, she later received a master’s degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. She was married to Harry Daniel Thompson at New Plymouth in June 1916. Most of her life was spent in educational work and she taught high school in Emmett, New Plymouth, Gooding, Wendell and later in Spokane. Mr. Thompson died in 1953.

She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa scholastic society.

Survivors include a daughter, Clata Thompson, Spokane; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Baker, Meridian; a brother, Howard W. Mason, New Plymouth, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday Park View cemetery, New Plymouth, under the direction of the Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth.
