Matron Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Peter Van Zuyen died at her home Friday, December 4, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tueday at the Landon funeral home at 1 p.m. with services rendered by Ronald Campbell. Burial was in Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth.

Alpha Van Zuyen was born January 19, 1891 in Gainsville, Missouri. The Van Zuyen family moved to New Plymouth in 1934 from Gran Junction, Colorado.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Van Zuyen; three daughters, Lucille and Plonie, of New Plymouth and Ena of Wendall; six sons, Fay, Butte, Montana, Raymond, Salt Lake City, Joe of Jerome, Idaho, Clarence, Hanford, California, Maurice of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Navy, Jim of the U.S. S. Naval Training Station at Norfolk, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Cochran of Gainsville, Missouri and Mrs. Ines Eurpleweine of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and five grandchildren; also a brother, Oscar Schaffer of Springfield, Missouri.
