Payette Matron Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Catherine Asmussen, well known local matron, passed away last Friday at her home in this city following an illness of some duration. Funeral services were held on Monday at the local Evangelical Church with Rev. A.F. Lienkamper officiating. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery with the Landon-Shaffer Funeral Home in charge.

Deceased was born in Germany May 4, 1873 and moved to the United States in 1902. Shortly after her arrival in this country, in 1903, she was married to Carl Asmussen in New York City and later that year Mr. And Mrs. Asmussen moved to Payette. She has made her home in this city since that time.

Surviving are her husband, Carl, three sons, Ernest, Harry N., Lester C. Asmussen, and two daughters, Mrs. Lucie Asmussen, Wendall, and Mrs. Marguerite Newman, Klamath Falls. She also leaves a brother, John Paulsen of New Plymouth and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Gerlach of Payette; also 11 grandchildren. One son, Ralph, and a daughter Anna Marie preceded her in death.
