Maria C. Asmussen

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the St. John’s Evangelical church Tuesday for Mrs. Maria Asmussen, 81, who died here Saturday after living in Payette for thirty-two years.

Mrs. Asmussen was born Maria C. Christiansen, May 19, 1857. She came to America from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany in 1884 immediately after her marriage to Henry Asmussen, came to Falk’s store, Idaho in 1892, and to Payette in 1906. Her husband died here in 1910. She was preceded in death by four children.

Two sons, Otto, of Payette, and Karl, of Woodland, Washington, one daughter, Mrs. Ella Stevens, of Payette, nine grandchildren and two great-grand children survive Mrs. Asmussen. Three brothers, two in Germany and John of San Francisco, California, also survive.

The Rev. Albert Beutenmueller, pastor of St. Johns Evangelical church officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, under the supervision of Home Undertaking parlors.
