Stella really enjoyed music, loved to cook and read cook books; but her pride and joy was the rose garden. She cared for her rose garden until she became ill. She also enjoyed sharing her time with others; a trip to the nursing home to sing and read to the residents was among her favorite activities. She enjoyed her family very much. She was a member of the Payette Assembly of God Church. Her church family was very special to her.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Arlene Hellinga of Payette; a sister, Francis Muntezwerff of La Grande; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, two sons, two brothers, two grandsons, and a great-grandson.
