FRUITLAND - Maude A. Horn Bigelow, 93, Fruitland, died Jan. 18, 1993, in a Payette care facility. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland, with Rev. Bennie Wright of the First Baptist Church, SCB, Fruitland, officiating. Private vault interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
She was born March 4, 1899, a daughter of Bert and Jennie Brown Allen in Boone County, Neb. She was raised and attended school there, while her father operated an electric power plant. She married Elva LeRoy "Roy" Horn in Boone County in March 1917. They farmed there and in Iowa until they moved to Fruitland in 1923. They worked in the fruit orchards and packing plants until Roy's death in October of 1945. She married Don Bigelow on Jan. 12, 1948, at Caldwell. They enjoyed the good life of traveling, hunting and fishing. Following Don's death May 31, 1965, Maude began to do scenery painting in almost every state in the United States and several foreign countries. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Survivors include a son, Clifford Horn of Fruitland; two daughters, Veda Kuhlman of Fruitland and Virginia O'Toole of Payette; two brothers, Wallace Allen of Payette and Gordon Allen of Fruitland; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren and many friends. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Resa and two sons, Dale and Vincent.
