DAVID A. BURKE BURIED SUNDAY

Funeral services were conducted at the Landon funeral home Sunday afternoon at 3:30 for David Alexander Burke who died in Payette December 31 at the age of 62. The service was in charge of the Rev. C. M. Strong and military services were conducted at the Riverside cemetery by the Nelson A. Miles post of the Spanish American War Veterans and the John Webster Rhoads post of the American Legion.

David Alexander Burke was born in St. Louis, Mo., on August, 3, 1879. His parents preceded him in death while he was still a child and he grew to manhood in a foster home in Kansas from where he enlisted in the U. S. army for the Spanish-American war. He saw service in the Philippines until 1901 when his regiment was mustered out at the presidio in San Francisco.

Shortly after he came to Idaho and worked in and around Payette until 1911 when he entered the U.S. Army. He re-enlisted in 1915 and saw service until 1919.

He is survived by no known relatives but leaves to mourn his many close friends, buddies, and ex-service men who knew him for many years. He was a member of John Webster Rhoads post of the American Legion, Nelson A. Miles Camp No. 8, United Spanish War Veterans of Payette, La-Junta Post No. 1092, Veterans of Foreign Wars of La Junta, Colorado and of the Bremerton, Wn., chapter of the Elks lodge.

Taking part in the military graveside service were the following:

Pallbearers, Spanish American Joe Wright, Guy Graham and Tom Armstrong; American Legion Ed Young, Claud Horton, and Roy Daggett.

Firing Squad; Byran West, Fay Wells, Chas, Blair, L. L. Dick, Howard Manser, Lynn Douglass, Andy Gerulf and C. C. Craven.

Color Bearers: Ralph Shamberger and Claud Cartwright.
Color Guards; Lee Coblentz and George Hawkins.
Buglers; Ruel Maule and Jack Daniel.
