FUNERAL SERVICE

The funeral service of Maud Chalfant, only child of Mrs. Flora Chalfant, was held in the Methodist Episcopal Church, in Payette Sunday afternoon, June 10, 1917, at three o'clock, Rev. G. W. Barnes, the pastor, officiating. Mrs. Chalfant's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilkinson, were with her during the sickness and the funeral.

Maud Chalfant was born in Sac City, Iowa, May 10, 1902. About two years afterward, because of the father's illness, the family moved to Payette, Idaho. Since Mr. Chalfant's death the mother and daughter have made their home in Payette, where Maud attended the public school and completed the 8th grade. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and regular in attendance at the services and the Sunday School. Tho the greater part of her life was tilled with sickness and suffering, yet she was always hopeful, cheerful, patient and kind. On the 8th day of June, after an extended sickness she passed the bounds of this life and entered the gates of light. Her relatives and many friends mourn, but only as those who have hope in God, and assurance in the future "For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens."
