Fred P. Christensen, 78, Payette, died Saturday afternoon in an Ontario rest home after a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 17, 1888, in Rochester, Minn. he came to Payette in 1910 and wrestled professionally for a few years. He married Ella Horn at Payette on Sept 16, 1912. They homesteaded a farm near Vale. He served on the Payette police force from 1923 to 1928. Then he returned to farming. He owned and operated a motel in Ontario from 1947 to 1959, when he sold his interest and retired. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald of Mapleton, Ore., Calvin of Salt Lake City and Leo of Ontario; three daughters, Mrs. Fern Fredenhagen of Bend, Ore., and Mrs. LaRena Cowgil and Mrs. Betty Belisle, both of Ontario; two brothers, Roy of Ontario and Earl of Harbor City, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Hazel Ensign of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Cora Amundson of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Pearl Ferrell, Mrs. Blanch Idle and Mrs. Floss Lockhart, all of Payette, and Mrs. Grace Johnson of New Plymouth; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His wife died in 1960 and a brother Ray, died in 1962.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaffer Memory Chapel in Payette, Jim Mummert, pastor of the First Christian church of Payette. Interment will follow at Riverside cemetery.
