Martha Luticia Spurgeon Cooper

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Payette Baptist church for Mrs. Martha Luticia Spurgeon Cooper, nearly ninety years of age, who died in Ontario Monday.

Mrs. Cooper, who was the grandmother of Mrs. Ed Wicks of Payette, died at the home of another grand-daughter, Mrs. F. S. Taylor, with whom she has made her home since 1904.

Mrs. Cooper came to Idaho and to Payette in 1904.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lilian Elizabeth Dorothy, who also makes her home with Mrs. Taylor in Ontario, and three other grandchildren: Philip Roney of New Plymouth, John A. Roney of Decatur, Illinois, and James G. Pease, of Meyers Falls, Washington. Eight great-grandchildren survive as well.

Mrs. Cooper was born February 3, 1849 at Pana, Illinois. On May 7, 1869 she married John Cooper, at Ravenna, Missouri. Mr. Cooper and a second daughter, Laura Pease Allen, preceded her in death seventeen years ago.

Services conducted by Landon Funeral home were held at the Payette Baptist church with the Rev. C. M. Strong of Payette and the Rev. C. D. Honeyford of Ontario officiating.

The Women's Relief Corps attended the funeral in a body.

Burial was at Riverside cemetery where Mr. Cooper is buried.
