Mrs. Emma Fitch Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Emma Fitch, 77, a long time resident of this city, died early last Saturday morning following a long illness.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Bert Iddins in charge. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the Shaffer Memory Chapel and with the local chapter of Eastern Star giving its ritualistic ceremony.

Emma Lucia Howard Fitch was born near Rogers, Nebraska on February 8, 1880. She was married to Burt Robert Fitch on October 20, 1897, at Columbus, Neb. After residing at Rogers, North Bend and Kearney, Nebr., the family came to the Payette Valley on March 6, 1905, residing first near New Plymouth. Early in 1908, the family moved to Payette.

Mrs. Fitch was a member of the Baptist church for over sixty years. She was also a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and the United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Kathleen Dale of Mitchell, Oregon, and a son, Neil R. Fitch of Payette, eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Another son, Jay Glenn Fitch and her husband preceded her in death.
