Virginia May Jamieson Gissel, 92, of Payette, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 in an Ontario care center. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette.

Harmony Rebekah’s Lodge No. 22 will conduct the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Virginia May Jamieson was born March 18, 1915 in Burley, Idaho to Alexander and Mary (Jones) Jamieson.

She received her schooling in the Treasure Valley, graduating from Payette High School with the Class of 1933. She married Eldro Gissel and they made their home on a ranch in Little Willow Creek Valley, east of Payette. While living there, they were blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Virginia was an active member of the H.O.A. Little Willow Community Club, Harmony Rebeckah’s Lodge No. 22 in Payette for more than 60 years, the Past Noble Grands Club, Payette Theta Rho Girls Club as an advisor and the 4L Club. She especially enjoyed working with young people, doing arts and crafts, gardening, card clubs, her lodge work, and visiting with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Sharon Gissel of Payette, and James and Melynda Gissel of Meridian. Her daughter and husband, Doris and Michael Brannan of Sunriver, Ore. Virginia is survived by five grandsons: Michael Gissel of Fort Worth, Texas; Gregory Gissel and his wife, Kelly of Emmett; Thomas Brannan and his wife, Ann Marie of Bend; William Brannan and his wife, Janelle of Clackamas, Ore.; Colton Dwayne Gissel of Payette. She is survived by three granddaughters, Kendra Stowell of Nampa; Julie Brannan-Graupensperger and husband, Scott of Bend; Ginger Yore and husband, Ben of Meridian. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Lindsay Gissel, Jeff Curley, Jessica Curley, Samantha Davis, Cassandra Davis, Mackenzie Brannan, Mary Jane Gissel, Tristan Yore, and Mikayla Yore. Sisters, Margurite Decker of Ontario; Arlene Debban of Payette, ID; Erma and Dale Whittle of Payette; as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Eldro; a grandson, David; sister, Edith Jamieson Gargus; her parents, Alexander and Mary (Jones) Jamieson.
