Irene Louise Haines, 90, of Ontario, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at an Ontario assisted living facility. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel, 112 N. 9th St. Payette, with Pastor David Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Irene was born June 22, 1911 in Merritt, Ill. To Lem and Vera Lankford.

She was the oldest of seven children, having three sisters and three brothers. She married Albert "Boots" Haines and they had one son, Lauren "Bud". Irene was a practical nurse and truly enjoyed this calling first at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois, and then at Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario.

She and Boots moved to Idaho in 1969.

She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips by train. She enjoyed saying she had dipped her toes in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

Bud and Guy extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wellsprings Assisted Living Center and XL Hospice for the loving care they gave Irene.

Irene is survived by her son Bud and his wife Guyneth, a grandson, Mike and granddaughter Tonja, four great-granddaughters, Tanaia, Kasandra, Tashina and Kaleena, and one great-grandson, Joe. She also felt she had an extended family in close friends, Roger and Lucille Moss.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan 31, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
