Payette - Mildred Lucille Rice Henningsen, 89, of Payette, died Monday, Oct 12, 1998, in an Ontario hospital. She was a retired registered nurse. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. John's United church of Christ, Payette, with the Rev. John Smith of St. James Episcopal Church, Payette, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of the Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel, Payette.
Born March 6, 1909, in Antwerp, N.Y., the daughter of Winford W. and Myrtle Frazier Rice, she graduated from Central High School of Syracuse, N.Y., and from Syracuse University's Memorial Hospital of Nursing in 1929. She came to Idaho in 1934 as a national Relief Administration public health nurse. She married Werner Anton Henningsen on May 16, 1937, and they operated the family ranch until his death Nov. 30, 1971.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church during her early days in Payette, later transferring membership to St. John's United Church of Christ where her husband's parents were charter members.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann M. Crosby of Payette; two sons, Karl W. Henningsen of Payette and Eric H. Henningsen of Spokane; two sisters, Marjorie LaVasseur of Massena, N.Y., and Marion Simmons of Utica, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Keith Crosby of Payette, Scott Crosby of Boise, Mary Kathryn Crosby and Tyler Crosby of Corvallis, Ore., Kenneth Henningsen of Boise, and Alissa Henningsen of Spokane; a great-grandson, David Keith Crosby of Indian Valley; a step-great-grandson, Andrew J. Caviness of Payette; a step-great-granddaughter, Mindy Marie Olson of Payette; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Valerie Bradway, Powlene Booth and Vivian Kinney.
Friends may call at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday.
