Recitation of the rosary for Esther E. Higgins, 87, Payette, who died Oct. 10, 1985, in a Payette nursing home, were held Sunday in the Shaffer-Jensen Chapel in Payette. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Payette, with Rev. Sean Caulfield officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
Mrs. Higgins was born Nov. 17, 1897, in Sheridian, Wyo., a daughter of Albert and Emma Thomas. At a young age she moved to Oregon, and then moved to Idaho to attend the College of Idaho. After graduating, she taught school in Idaho. She later was parish housekeeper for the catholic churches in Moscow and Payette.
Survivors include two sisters, Georgia Todd, Sparks, Nev.; and Hilda Kulzer, Valley, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and three brothers.
