Funeral services this afternoon at 2:30 were held for John Hill from the Landon funeral home with Rev. H. E. Mowe of Emmett preaching the sermon. Rev. Mowe was the minister in the Payette Christian church several years ago when Mr. Hill was an elder in the church.

John Hill was born Dec. 18, 1864 in Weslanda, Sweden and died at his home east of Payette March 1, 1936. He came to America in 1884 and settled in Idaho in 1886. On February 16, 1892 he was married to Miss Emma Olson in Boise. To this union six children were born, Albert Hill and Victor Hill of Emmett; Ellen Harbrouck of Petersberg, Alaska; Mary Pollar of Morar Gwalior. India; Samuel E. Hill of Payette; Mrs. Laura Feyrer of Brooks Alta, Canada; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. There are three brothers and five sisters, Sam Hill of Weiser; Henry Hill of Portland; Carl Hill of Sitea, Alaska; Mrs. Anna Johnson, Mrs. Eva Anderson and Miss Lena Hill all of Boise; Mrs. Irene Reopel of Portland and Mrs. Emily Sanders of Seattle.

Mrs. Hill preceded him in death October 9, 1914 and two years later he was married to Annie Lewis of New Plymouth on January 4, 1916. Two children also preceded him in death, Mrs. Mary Little of Nebraska and Mrs. Christine Nagle of Kuna. There are three step-children surviving.

Mr. Hill was an active church member in Payette and served as elder in the Christian church until his last sickness. He contributed much of his time and money to the construction of the Payette Y.M.C.A. building here and was an active worker for various civic projects and movements.
