Payette Enterprise
Thursday, July 27, 1933

Ernest Hogg who passed away at his home Friday morning at 8:45 at the age of 59 years 3 months and 8 days was laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery Monday. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. Rev. C. O. Heath officiating.

Thomas Ernest Hogg was born in Circleville, Kansas on April 13th, 1874, and in this city he grew to man hood. On Nov. 5th, 1902, he and Laura Ann Chamberlin were united in marriage. Two children were born to this union, Bess Louise Hogg of this city and Robert Hogg of Caldwell, Idaho. They lived in Circleville until 1910 when they moved to Archie, Missouri, and later to Centralia, Kansas, where Mr. Hogg was engaged in the General Mercantile business. After moving to Colorado and living there for two years they came to Boise, Idaho, in 1922 and in 1923 they moved to this city where the Hoggs have since made their home. Here he was for a while employed by the Skaggs Store, but later started the Hogg Grocery.

He was active in civic work in Payette, had been a member of the Kiwanis Club and faithful in attendance until sickness prevented. He was a good christian man and for years has been a member of the Methodist church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and Modern Woodman, and in these circles made many friends by whom he will be greatly missed. His sickness came to him a year and a half ago and soon afterwards he went to Portland for medical aid but all that human hands could do was of no avail. He was tenderly cared for by his wife and daughter and suffered without complaint until the end came.

During the funeral services Rev. C. O. Heath gave a very suitable and impressive talk and Mrs. Barnard Eastman sang two solos, accompanied at the piano by Miss Joan Harris. Members of the Masonic Lodge took charge of the services at the grave. The many and beautiful floral offerings given as a last tribute to his memory signified the many friends which he had made during his life.

Besides his wife and children he is survived by one sister, M. Janet E. Humphrey of Portlas, Oregon, and two brothers, W. Hogg of Holton, Kansas and Noel I. Hogg of Sterling, Colorado.
