PAYETTE - James E. Hutchinson Sr., 98, Payette, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1987, in a Payette nursing home. Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Pastor Peter Clay of the Payette First Baptist Church officiated, under direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Payette.

He was born Oct. 14, 1888, at Payette, a son of James and Elizabeth Hutchinson who were pioneers of Payette. His father was the first civil engineer in the Payette Valley. He was reared and educated in Payette. He married Florence Emily Moulton in 1916 at Payette. He was a railroad engineer for 60 years, retiring in 1959. He was loved by all who knew him; his kindness will always be remembered.

Survivors include a son, James E. Hutchinson Jr. of Payette; a daughter, Doris Bryant of Boise; five grandchildren, James Hutchinson III and Jan Olson, both of Payette, Daniel Hutchinson of Boise, Bernard Lemp of Sun Valley, Calif., and Gregory Bryant of Woodland Hills, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1985. Three brothers, three sisters, and a grandson also died earlier.
