Pioneer Resident David Jones Dies
Services were conducted Tuesday for David Jones, 86, of Payette, who died Saturday in an Ontario nursing home following a long illness.
Mr. Jones was born Feb. 27, 1875, at Aberystwith, Wales. He married Sarah Jane Downs in London February, 1900. The couple came to this community in 1902 and lived here since that time.
He was a member of St. James' Episcopal church here.
An orchardist, Mr. Jones also was a packer and shipper for many years with the Wood Spur Packing House of Payette. He shipped vegetables and fruit to foreign countries. He was a partner in the (unreadable) Grocery and Feed Store for several years.
Survivors include one brother and two sisters in England; two nephews, Bert and Tom Moggridge of Payette; a grandniece, Mrs. Mary Jane Lee, and a grandnephew, Jack Moggridge, both of Payette. Mr. Jones had made his home with Mrs. Lee for many years.
Services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 in the Episcopal church with the Rev. Dr. Fred Pickett officiating. Interment was at Riverside.
