Services for a pioneer Payette resident, Robert Mason Keith, 85, who died Sunday at an Ontario hospital were conducted Wednesday morning at the St. James Episcopal church in Payette.

The Rev. Palmer Wylde officiated. Interment was at Riverside cemetery under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel.

Mr. Keith was born December 30, 1882 at Madison, S. Dak., where he lived until coming to Payette in 1902. Here he joined his father, E.C. Keith, in the business known as "Keith's Store for Men." He remained in this business over 50 years, retiring in 1959.

An avid sportsman he loved Idaho and her mountains and streams where he spent his spare moments. He was also active in promoting athletics, especially baseball and golf.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Heimbolt and Mrs. Nell Dibble, both of Payette, and Mrs. Zada Wright of Idaho Falls, four nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Ray G. Keith of Pocatello, E. Wayne Keith of Rock Springs, Wyo and Walter S. of Sacramento, Calif.
