Rufus King Passes At Payette Saturday

Rufus King, 66, of Payette, died Saturday at his home after a long illness.

Mr. King was born Feb. 8, 1890, in Halifax county, Va., and was married Jan. 24, 1928 in Omaha, Nebr. He was a veteran of World War I and was a farmer in the Oregon Slope community from 1942 until he moved to Payette in November.

He was a member of the First Baptist church and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Betty King of Payette; two brothers, A. C. King, South Boston, Va.; M. E. King, Virgilina, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. William Goodacre, Virgilina, Mrs. Charles Waddell, in Virginia and Miss Nancy King, Rutsburg, Va.

Services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Bert Iddins and the Rev. Shelley Robinson officiating. Interment was at Riverside under the direction of the Shaffer Memory Chapel.
