County Surveyor Dies Monday
Charles P. Lattig Dies Following Short Illness; Funeral Wednesday

C. P. Lattig, Payette county surveyor, passed away last Monday following a brief illness. Mr. Lattig was seventy-six years of age and was one of the pioneer office holders of Payette county, having held the office of county surveyor since the county was organized. Funeral services were held on Wednesday of this week with Rev. E. R. Kaemmer in charge. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery under the supervision of the Landon Funeral home.

Charles Peter Lattig was born July 7, 1866 at Orangeville, Ill. He was a graduate of the Iowa State university in civil engineering. During his college days he was affiliated with the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and following graduation he entered the employ of the Northern Pacific Railroad as a bridge builder. Mr. Lattig was married June 23, 1897 to Ethel Blakesley and for a time they operated a store at Anita, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Lattig came to Payette in 1903. He was prominently identified with the development of Payette county, having had charge of the engineering in conjunction with the building of the line of the Payette Valley railroad. He officiated as city engineer for many years and did considerable surveying and planning public improvements, his latest activity being the engineering in connection with the construction of the city drainage system several years ago.

Deceased was a member of the Congregational church, the Masons, Knights Templar and Shrine. Beside his widow, he is survived by a son, Dr. Bayard Lattig of this city; a sister, Mrs. Ada Reed, of Syracuse, N. Y., and a brother, Elmer Lattig, of Payette.
