TAYLOR C. LYON BURIED TODAY

Taylor Charles Lyon died at the Payette General hospital in this city Sunday, November 1, at the age of 95 years. Mr. Lyon was born February 14, 1847 in Harrisonville, Miss. He crossed the plains as a freighter when sixteen years of age and was in many a skirmish with the Indians. In 1884 he married Bertha Moses in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died in 1898. He homesteaded in the Indian territory of Oklahoma for several years and came to Emmett, Idaho in 1917, moving to Payette county twelve years ago where he resided at the time of his death. He was a Civil War veteran and has traveled extensively, covering most of the United States and Alaska during the "Gold Rush to the Yukon." He attended the G.A.R. encampment at Gettysburg in 1938. Survivors of the deceased include Cody Lyon of Fruitland, William Lyon of Ogden, Arthur Lyon of Minnesota, three daughters, Laura Hodges, Nellie Lyon and Lottie Lyon, of Alturas, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Services were held Thursday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the Peterson Foster Funeral home with Rev. Paul Felthouse conducting the service. Interment was in the Riverside cemetery.
