Ronald Wilburn Marlow, 88, of Payette, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at The Cottages, Weiser. A viewing for family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1712 W. Idaho Ave., Ontario. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Ron was born Feb. 9, 1923, at Wapello, Idaho, a small farming community north of Blackfoot, to Madeline (Hancock) Marlow and Wilburn E. Marlow. Ron graduated Blackfoot High School in 1940 and then attended radio school in Boise. He later joined the US Air Force and served with the 15th Air Service Squadron in Hawaii. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1948, Ron attended the Blackfoot Flying School and helped organize the Civil Air Patrol for Eastern Idaho. He later joined the Air Force Reserve and flew humanitarian missions throughout southern Idaho. Ron was called to active duty in July 1950 and served with the 452nd Bomb Wing stationed in both Japan and Korea. After Ron left the Air Force, he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in Blackfoot and Idaho Falls. Ron retired in 1984 with over 30 years of service. After retirement, Ron and wife, Charlee moved to Payette and purchased the historic Jacobsen home. Ron served on the Payette county Historical Society for 15 years and was on the board of managers. Ron was also a member of the Idaho State Historical Society and served the Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot for 14 years. Ron was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Ontario, Ore., where he also served as a deacon and an elder.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother; father; wife; sister, Marjorie Kimbrell and half-sister, Gayleen Jensen.

Ron is survived by his sister, Wilma Lou Carlson, of Downey, Calif.; brother, Don Marlow, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Connie Shaw, of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Jeffrey Marlow (Vickie), of Oklahoma City, Okla.; granddaughter, Brenda Krout and two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Braden of Liberty, Mo.; step-mother, Elna Marlow, of Idaho Falls; half-sister, Ruth Ann Gold, of Idaho Falls; and three half-brothers, Forest Marlow and Dennis Marlow, of Blackfoot and David Marlow, of Idaho Falls. Ron also has two step-sons, Randy Pence, of Albuquerque, N.M. and Rocky Pence, of Kearney, Mo. and step-daughter, Robin Rice, of Independence, Mo.
