Funeral Services For J. V. Martin

Death claimed J. V. Martin, 82, of Payette, Monday in a Payette hospital. He was born March 18, 1870, in Cedar county, Missouri, and came to Payette in 1916 from Halfway, Oregon.

Mr. Martin was a retired farmer and a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Martin of Payette; five sons, J. Ray Martin of Huntington, Argie L. and David C. Martin, both of Baker, Alton W. of Payette, and William J. Martin of Longview, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Delpha Kincaid of Caldwell and Mrs. Jessie Kehrer of Portland; 22 grandchildren, three brothers, including Arthur Martin of Nampa and Bert Martin of Halfway, Ore., and two sisters, Mrs. Della Stubblefield of Parma, and Dora Perry of Boise.

Mr. Martin was a well known stockman who owned several stock ranches in eastern Oregon. He came to the west at the age of 16, driving an ox team all the way from Golden, Missouri, leaving May 2, 1886 and arriving in Joseph, Oregon, September 3, of the same year.

Services were held this morning, Thursday, at 10:30 at the Shaffer Memory chapel. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
