Graveside services for Elmer Richard "Short" Mordhorst, 70, Payette, who died Friday, June 17, 1983, while horseback riding in the Little Willow area near Payette of a heart attack, were conducted Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette, with Pastor Russell Steiner of the First Baptist Church, New Plymouth, officiating, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

He was born Dec. 15, 1912, at Payette, where he was reared and educated. He married Joyce "Nita" Henson at Winnemucca, Nev. on December 10, 1938. He worked in Dam construction in the Northwestern States where he was a construction foreman. He retired in 1976, and they returned to Payette. He enjoyed riding horses.

He is survived by his wife Joyce "Nita" Mordhorst of Payette, one son, Robert W. Mordhorst of Prineville, Ore., one brother, Ira Mordhorst of Payette, one sister, Millie Lowe of Jacksonville, Oregon; three granddaughters and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Richard in 1966, one grandson, six brothers and two sisters.
