Kathleen Cameron Vinsonhaler Moss
Kathleen Cameron Vinsonhaler Moss, 86, of Redding, Ca., died June 16, 1995 at home. Services were held at McDonald’s Chapel, Redding, Ca. Burial and graveside services were conducted at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
She was born Oct. 15, 1908, in Bellaire, Kan., the daughter of Daniel Albert and Bertha Picard Vinsonhaler. She attended elementary and high school in Smith County, Kan., and graduated from the Smith County Center High School in 1924 at age 15. Following graduation from high school, she attended Kansas Wesleyan University at Salina, Kan., for two years, then taught in the Smith county elementary schools for two years. She then attended the College of Idaho in Caldwell, graduating in 1931. Following graduation, she taught in the Payette Schools for three years.
It was in Payette that she met her future husband, Anthony Bartlett Moss, whom she married Aug. 3, 1933 in Council. To this union were born two children; a son, Anthony Bartlett Moss, Jr., and a daughter Kathleen Carolyn Heinsohn. The family moved to Anderson, Ca., in 1943, where they resided for 21 years. Anthony was engaged in beekeeping and Kathleen was employed as a teacher and principal by the Cascade Union Elementary School District for 25 years. In 1964, Kathleen and Anthony moved to Redding where they have since resided.
Kathleen was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church, Redding, Ca., the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Honor Society for Women Educators, PEO, Chapter TB, the National Retired Teachers Association and the California Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, A. Bartlett Moss, Sr., of Redding; two children, Anthony Bartlett Moss Jr., of Sacramento, Ca., and Kathleen Carolyn Heinsohn of Arcata, Ca., three grandchildren, Sandra Smith, Susan Taylor and Jeffrey Moss, two great grandchildren, Shannon and Spencer Taylor.
