Payette - Esther Oster, 87, Boise, formerly of Payette, died Dec. 10, 1991, at her son's home in Boise. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Dr. Leonard Reifel, Pastor Emeritus of St. John's United Church, Payette, will officiate. Private committal services will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.

She was born May 10, 1904, at Jamestown, N.D., a daughter of Gottlieb and Katherine Schock. She was reared and educated there. She moved with her parents to Spokane, Wash. in 1919, then to Fruitland in 1921. In 1923, she married Wendoline "Vinnie" Oster. They owned and operated a fruit ranch north of Payette until 1971. They moved to Payette from the ranch in 1961. Vinnie died Oct. 5, 1980. She has been residing with her son, Don, in Boise for several years. She was a member of St. John's United Church, Payette; the Women's Guild; the Orchard Avenue Grange, and a member and treasurer of the Tabitha Society when it was first organized.

Survivors include a sister, Marian Whitney of Payette; two sons, Don Oster of Boise and Ralph Oster of Payette; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great- grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, a brother, and a grandson, Kenneth Oster.
