Services Held For Wendelin Oster, 84, Tuesday Afternoon

Wendelin Oster, 84, of Payette, a pioneer Payette county farmer, died Sunday morning in a Payette hospital.

Mr. Oster was born Oct. 1, 1868, in the Crimea, Russia. He was married in 1890 in Russia to Henrietta Mutschall and the couple came to Blamarck, N. D., in 1898. They moved to Payette in the spring of 1894, and Mr. Oster worked for the Union Pacific railroad and was foreman of the Payette Nursery company, before he began farming in 1906. He retired in 1920 and the couple moved to Payette. Mrs. Oster died in 1937.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Lutheran church of Payette.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Leondina Baer of Payette, Mrs. Louise Conrad of Hagerman and Mrs. Amelia Specht, both of Longview, Wash.; three sons, John and Wendelin E. Oster, both of Payette, and Jacob Oster of Boise, and 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services were conducted at St. John's Lutheran church Tuesday with the Rev. Henry C. Warber officiating. Interment was at Riverside under the direction of Shaffer Chapel.
