Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Roberta was born in Pierce, Nebraska, where she lived and went to school. As a young girl, she worked in a dairy. In 1935, she married Claude Patrick and began a wonderful journey of love. They lived in Pierce a year before they decided to make a move west. They traveled through the Payette area on the way to Eugene, Ore. Arriving at Eugene, they discovered the rain and a lack of work was not what they had bargained for. They then returned to Payette County where Claude began working. They purchased a home in Fruitland and began their family. They had two children, Norman and Sherilyn. Claude and Bert eventually bought a small farm in Payette where they enjoyed gardening and raising stock. Their acre garden was the talk of the town and landed them in the paper on one occasion.

Roberta was not only an awesome homemaker she also found time to be active in the Rebekah’s. She was a representative for Avon for many years and truly enjoyed meeting new people and offering her services. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Payette. Bert enjoyed crafts, cooking, canning singing, drying fruit and spending time with family and friends. On the other hand Roberta was an avid fisher woman and she was never afraid to get her hands dirty working along side Claude in the field. Her devotion to her husband was evident during his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Roberta was by his side daily, providing for his needs and assuring his good care. Their love was a witness to what marriage should be, endless love.

Roberta spent the last season of her life enjoying her friends at Royal Villa in Payette. She was a very social person and enjoyed taking on the role of greeting new people and comforting those in need of comfort. Music was always a part of her life, whether it was whistling or singing she always had a tune. It seemed as if it had become a ministry to share all the old songs with her friends, the staff, and residents. She regarded those on the staff at Royal Villa as family and appreciated their care greatly.

Roberta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude; her daughter in law, Phyllis Patrick; her daughter, Sherilyn; a grandson, Kent; and her seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Norman C. Patrick; granddaughter, Nicki McLean; great granddaughter, Michelle Patrick-Dean; and great-great grandchildren, Tucker, Travis and Zoe.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Royal Villa for making Roberta’s last years so warm and wonderful. You made a great impact on our family.

Memorials may be made to the Payette First United Methodist Church, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
