PIONEER RESIDENT OF PAYETTE ANSWERS LAST CALL TUESDAY

One of Payette's oldest pioneer citizens, Mrs. Mary Platt, 81, died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Miss Cora J. Platt after a brief illness.

Mrs. Platt was born in July 28, 1851 in Richmond, Indiana. On July 6, 1872 she was united in marriage to William Henry Platt in Lynn, Indiana and in 1885 Mr. and Mrs. Platt came from Odgen, Utah to Idaho and to the new community which was to become the present town of Payette. He was employed by the railroad for many years. Mr. Platt preceded her in death April 3, 1937.

Mrs. Platt is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Emma J. Marguardsen of Buhl and Miss Cora Platt of Payette; and by a nephew, Ernest F. Marguardsen of Oakland, California.

Funeral services are being held by Rev. Robert B. Echols at the Saint James Episcopal church this afternoon with interment to follow in the Riverside cemetery. Landon's are in charge as funeral directors.
