PIONEER ANSWERS CALL ON SATURDAY

W. H. Platt Resident Of Payette For 52 Years; Served As Commisssioner Many Terms

William H. Platt, 86, pioneer resident of Payette, died at his home here Saturday at 12:25 p.m. Mr. Platt was one of the early pioneers of Payette having resided here since the fall of 1885 and he served as Canyon County commissioner for several terms. In 1912 he was chairman of the Canyon county board of commissioners. After Payette county was formed Mr. Platt was appointed county commissioner to fill the vacancy caused by the death of J. A. White in 1922 and he served in that capacity for three terms.

On March 31, 1877 he was made a Master Mason of Lynn Lodge Number 223 and in 1891 he helped organize the Washoe Lodge Number 28 of which he was a charter member.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Platt, and two daughters, Mrs. F. C. Marguardsen of Buhl, Idaho and Cora Platt of Payette; one grandson, Ernest F. Marguardsen of Oakland, California; one sister, Mrs. Mary Chase of Payette and one brother, Howard V. Platt of Hollywood, California.

Funeral services were held at the Masonic temple at two o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. Robert B. Echols preaching the sermon and members of the Washoe Lodge Number 28 of the A. F. and A. M. had charge of the services.
