Mary Magtleline Sargent

Mary Magtleline Sargent was born in Floyd County, Virginia, Feb. 12, 1842. She passed peacefully away July 26, 1923 at 3 o'clock at the home of her son, C. H. Sargent, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was a descendent of Christopher Sower, a prominent printer in Benjamin Franklin's day, and one of the first in the U.S. She came to Kansas in 1860, and 5 years later was married to Story L. Sargent. To this union was born 6 sons, C. H., and E. B., of Fruitland, C. A. of Boise, Dr. J. G., of Centralia, Wash., Rev. Frank N. of Chicago, and R. M. who preceded her in death last spring. Her husband died 13 years ago, and since that time she has made her home with C. H. Sargent. Her health has been failing for some months, but she was able to be around some until the day before her death. Funeral services were held from the Brethren Church, of which she was a member, Friday afternoon, and interment made in Riverside cemetery.
