Mrs. Mattie Sargent
Services for Mrs. Mattie E. Sargent, 91, Fruitland, who died Wednesday evening in a Payette nursing home, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bertelson-Lienkaemper Memorial Chapel in Ontario by the Rev. Earl H. Traughber, pastor of the Church of the Brethren of Fruitland. Interment was at Riverside in Payette.
Mrs. Sargent was born April 24, 1879, in Rush county, Kan. She married E.B. Sargent June 2, 1897, in Dunlap, Kan. He died in Tulsa, Okla. in 1963.
Mrs. Sargent moved to the Payette-Fruitland area in 1903 and had resided here since. She was a member of the Fruitland Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Sargent, Gage, Okla., and Dwight Sargent, Ontario, a daughter, Mrs Eunice S. Roth, Seal Rock, Ore.; two brothers, Frank Eldredge, Fruitland and Tom Eldredge, Nyssa; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Bingaman, Mrs. Rene Brown and Mrs. Margaret Metzler, all of Fruitland; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Leslie Sargent, died Sept. 30, 1960. Eight brothers and sisters also preceded here in death.
Memorials may be made to the Fruitland Church of the Brethren.
