PAYETTE - Funeral services for Arthur Russell Shoemaker, 87, Payette, were held Thursday in Shaffer Jensen Chapel, Payette, by the Rev. Ralph Lawrence of the Payette First united Methodist Church in charge. Mr. Shoemaker died Sunday in Payette nursing home. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in Payette.
Born Nov. 23, 1892, in Grand Island, Neb., he moved to Oconto, Neb. with his family as a child. He married Alta Kirk Roe Aug. 29, 1938 in Logan, Iowa and they moved to Payette in 1948 where they farmed. Mrs. Shoemaker died in 1961.
Surviving are two step-sons, Ona Roe of Inkom and Percy Roe of Lewiston; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Vida Rutledge of Corvallis; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Rookstool of Parma and Mrs. Sarah Vingling of Casper, Wyo. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
