PAYETTE - Services for Daisy Ruby Smith, 88, Salt Lake City, formerly of Payette, who died Thursday in a Salt Lake City hospital, were conducted Saturday at Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Payette, by the Rev. Roy Kilby, First Southern Baptist Church, Fruitland. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
She was born April 3, 1888, in Culver Ore., and moved to Prineville, Ore., where she was reared and educated. She married Jessie Melton in 1915 at Culver. He died in 1925.
She married Archie W. Smith July 14, 1943, in Prineville. The moved to Weiser, where they farmed until 1954 when they bought Smith's Grocery, Payette. They operated it until 1960 when they retired. He died in June, 1965. She moved to Salt Lake City in November, 1975.
Surviving are a son, Jack, Salt Lake City; a brother, Roy McCallister, Terrebonne, Ore.; two sisters, Florence Meenan, Anacoates, Ore., and Pearl Davenport, Grants Pass, Ore., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
