Hans C. Solterbeck, 85, Payette, a retired farmer, died Jan. 28, 1991, in an Ontario hospital. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services will be conducted by Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #3803, Payette, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

He was born May 7, 1905, at Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstin, Germany, to Johann and Margaretha Solterbeck. He moved to Idaho in 1930 where he lived at the H.B. Solterbeck home until he joined the Army in June 16, 1940, serving through World War II until his discharge July 7, 1945. He married Della Robertson on July 7, 1945, at Fort Worth, Texas. They moved to Payette where they farmed together. They earned Pop Corn Producer for Small Acreages a number of years in a row. He was a charter member of the Payette Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the Eagles Lodge, promoting and supporting both organizations diligently.

Survivors include cousins, Claude Solterbeck and Allen Soltereck of Payette, Bob Solterbeck of Hendersen, Texas, Shirley Wayman of Reedsport, Fern Klein of Nyssa, Marilyn Solterbeck of Ontario, and numerous second cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della on April 9, 1981.
