McCall - Ronald Ward Solterbeck, age 61, of McCall, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Pastor David Lawson of the First Baptist Church, Payette, will officiate.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Ron was born on March 6, 1947, in Payette, to Ward and Mae (Fulbright) Solterbeck. He graduated from Payette High School in 1965 and attended electronics school in Denver. Ron then joined the U.S. Navy and served as a submarine tender on the Canopus in Dunoon, Scotland.
He married Chris Bowen in November 1971 in Scotland. Their son Jeremy was born there on Oct. 23, 1973. Ron was honorably discharged in 1974.
He worked in the McCall, Boise and Payette areas and was employed by the McCall School District at the time of his death.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, mushrooming and being with family.
His father, Ward Solterbeck, and a nephew, Sam Solterbeck, preceded him in death.
Ron is survived by his son, Jeremy Solterbeck, of San Francisco; his mother, Mae Solterbeck, of Payette; three brothers, Norm (Janet) Solterbeck, of Payette, Dean (Vicky) Solterbeck, of Ontario, Dale (Ampi) Solterbeck, of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Karen (Ian) Levett, of Birmingham, England, Lorraine (Gordon) Peterson, of Payette; Chris Bowen and Margie Bowen, of McCall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
