PAYETTE - Services for Ward W. Solterbeck, 58, Payette, who died Monday of injuries suffered in an industrial accident at Payette, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Payette, by Dr. Leonard Reifel, Saint John's United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Payette, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Funeral Home, Payette.
He was born Jan. 7, 1921, at New Plymouth. He moved to the Washoe area near Payette where he had farmed and ranched for many years. He married Mae Fulbright on Oct. 14, 1945, at Payette. He started work for American Fine Foods Cannery in 1966. He was field shop foreman at the time of his death. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, chairman of the Riverside Cemetery Board and an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a member of the FFA Advisory Board, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No 3803 and a past member of the Payette County Ditch Board, the Payette School Board and the Civil Air Patrol. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of Payette; his mother, Rose Solterbeck of Payette; four sons, Ronald of Boise, Norman and Dean, both of Payette and Dale of Boise; two daughters, Karen and Lorraine, both of Boise; a brother, Jack of Salem; two sister, Kathleen Minger of Portland and Dorothy Owens of Twin Falls; and a grandchild.
Friends may call at the chapel today from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon.
